My vote is to build up on current site, rather than bite off a chunk of Magruder. Clawing back open space once it's gone, well,...
However, we should go into it with eyes wide open regarding it's (temporary) impact on teaching and learning. @Mark Graham wrote that we can "improve and expand the HMS facility while classes continue to function without undue burden to school operations." As a former teacher who went through two on-site whole-school remodels/expansions, I can say from personal experience that the process significantly disrupted teaching and learning for years. That's not to say it's not worth it, but that's the reality.
We need better, safer biking roues in an east/west direction. We need at least one east/west bikeway connecting both sides of town. Queensbury is one of the few true east/west thruways in the city, but if it makes sense to fit it into a one way / one-side-only parking street, then so be it. We do need something kind of east/west bike connector though. And I'm not talking about a sharrows; they're simply not safe, even on slower-moving traffic streets.
Ms. Reams. I'm a bit late to the party. Above link to particular meeting is no longer functioning.
Does Hyattsville archive video of prior meetings? If so, how do we access them? Thanks!
